The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (LRFPD) is immediately accepting applications to create an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.  The LRFPD anticipates hiring up to five (5) Firefighter/Paramedic candidates for positions currently open.

(Note: Board of Fire Commissioners may offer positions to potential candidates that do not possess an Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Paramedic license and/or Illinois OSFM certified Firefighter II or certified Basic Operations Firefighter under certain circumstances.)  See the application for full details.

Position Highlights

• Updated:  Starting salary for Firefighter/Paramedic is $78,638.  The pay scale contains 7 steps (probationary step included).  The Step 6 salary is $116,100 (as of June 1, 2024).

• No residency or Living Radius Requirement

• Firefighter/Paramedics work a 24-hour shift followed by 48-hours off duty.

• Probationary Firefighter/Paramedics acquires 12 paid time off (PTO) days during first year.

• Paid sick leave for 24 hour shift employees accrues on a monthly basis at a rate of 12 hours per month with no maximum accrual amount.

• Sick leave incentive program.

• LRFPD offers a comprehensive health care benefit plan (Blue Cross Blue Shield).

• Free dental insurance and life insurance.

• Vision insurance available.

• Illinois downstate pension plan. In addition, a 457-Retirement Savings Plan in which the District can contribute up to 6% of base salary.
